The Conestoga Condors proved they are no flash in the pan with their second tournament victory of the season - at their own tournament to boot.
Eight teams took part in the Conestoga men's tourney on February 4th, including the Power Ratings #1 rated Durham Lords. Two round robin matches determined semi-finalists, with points awarded to teams for wins, OT wins and losses and for winning or tying periods in each game.
Fleming emerged as the top team by defeating Mohawk 3-1 and Georgian-Owen Sound 5-0. Conestoga defeated Canadore 5-1 and Fanshawe 3-1 to claim 2nd, while Fanshawe claimed 3rd despite the loss by virtue of a 9-0 win over Georgian-Owen Sound. Durham squeaked into the final semi-final spot despite a 2-1 loss to Canadore with an 8-5 win over Sheridan.
The semis held true to form with Fleming winning a close 3-2 game over Durham and Conestoga defeating Fanshawe again by a score of 3-2. The final was a see-saw affair, but in the end the Condors defeated the Auks 3-2 to claim their second tournament crown of the year.
Conestoga's win opens up another Wild Card spot in the Challenge Cup as the Condors are now multiple tournament winners. There are now two wild card spots up for grabs as McMaster is a tournament champion but is ineligible for Challenge Cup play.
